Phia La'mour Will Be Put On Blast 7/7/2011

“I’m not a female rapper. I am a female that can rap.”
Her name is Phia La’Mour. Some call her the Rap Raiderette, being from The Bay where the NFL Raiders football team is known for their tough play – just like Phia. Those who are close to her call her LaCooKoo, a term of endearment her father would say to her any time she would perform as a child.
"My father was my biggest supporter. When he died in 2003, I stopped doing music all together." It was not until 2008 when Phia La’Mour started to write again. The five year break allowed Phia to revive her love of music and begin to write about what was important to her. Unlike many female rappers and artists, Phia La’Mour creatively composes her work to reach both men and women. She writes her music based off of real life experiences; not just sex appeal and money.
To get back into the music industry, Phia created a MySpace account with the goal of getting her music heard and the opportunity to network and collaborate with artists. “I think without online networking, no one would even know me,” Phia explains. Through her drive and passion for making herself known, she did not stop at MySpace. She created a Twitter account (@phialamour). Her Twitter account not only allowed her to post music and speak with her followers, which she still does today; but it is where she met her manager/producer, JK (@TheBeatStillJK and @bayboymusic). “At first he sent me some beats and we started working. Now he is my manager,” Phia states. Social networking has also allowed Phia to build brand and has motivated her to build her catalog.
Phia has been seen on stages across the United States in 2011 and has no desire to slow down - - releasing her mixed tape in Fall 2011. Recent shows in California, Florida and Alabama are creating a large hype (See below for show detail). Her talent in her music and her performances on stage has drawn fans from all over the world. “I want to be known as someone who can ‘put the west on’ in my music and in features in the music of others.” Phia Lamour says about her work and collaborations with artist worldwide.
The diverse music of Phia La’Mour ranges from club songs like “Play Dat LaCooKoo” and "Go Go Gadget" featuring Bay Area favorites The HoodStarz, Willie Joe, Mistah Fab, and Philthy Rich; to the more heartfelt tracks such as “Around The World” featuring International Grammy award winning artist U$O of Demark. The diversity in her music attracts a large audience. An audience that is always on their toes, not knowing what she will create next – but knowing it will be an exclusive hit.
------------------- Phia La’Mour was born on December 10, 1984 in East Palo Alto, California where she lived until the seventh grade. It was not until after moving to Vallejo, California where she started singing in the school choir. This is when she found a love for music and writing poetry. The love of singing, music and writing quickly led her to a passion of rap and hip-hop. She was the performer in the family, always singing and rapping at family gatherings, talent shows and on cruise ships. It is easy to say, her childhood has helped form Phia to what she is today, “not just a female rapper.”
